"...and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than sould can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)"

Stuck?! January 15th! :)

I've been trying to spice up my scrapping life with a little humor, and the January 15th sketch at Stuck?! provided me the inspiration to do so! Here is the sketch:

And the page I made with a touch of cheesy humor is:
My best friends and I are always so silly and cheesy, so I wanted a page that captured that aspect of our friendship. I didn't add any journaling, which I know is often considered a scrapbooking faux pas, but I felt like the picture and title just spoke for themselves. I wanted it to be simple and fun, and I really love the way it turned out! I hope you like it, thanks for stopping by! :)

My very first combo challenge: Bird is the Word & Once Upon a Sketch!

I've never done a challenge for more than one challenge, and I'm a tad nervous about it. :) But I really, really thought my idea was perfect for both challenges, and I just couldn't pick! So, I'm fulfilling the word "Remember" for Bird is the Word, and the journaling criteria and sketch for Once Upon a Sketch! Here is the sketch from OUAS:

I chose to scrapbook about my favorite memory from 2011, which was our family vacation to Galveston! We had such an amazing time! So here is my page:
For some reason Blogger won't center my picture... Sorry! :) So the title is "I will always remember", and the journaling says "When I look back on 2011, my favorite memory is the vacation we took as a family to Galveston. It was the most amazing time spent together, and I will never forget it." I really like the way this page came together, and I enjoyed using the postcards and pamphlets I have been saving. :) And of course, the ever present glitter and glitter flowers. :) I hope you like this page as much as I do! Thanks for stopping by!

Stuck?! Part 1 in January! :)

I have been desperately needing some multi photo layout ideas, and the Stuck?! challenge didn't let me down! I'm so excited that I finally got to use some of the many photos I've had from our Galveston trip. So, without further ado, here is the sketch:

And here is my page!

I modified the sketch a little bit, making the block on the left solid photos instead of three. When we were in Galveston, I kept taking pictures of the signs when we went places, and I really wanted to use them but wasn't exactly sure how. But, I think it worked out really well! :) I really love the colors, and the map printed on the paper. I hope you like what Stuck?! inspired me to create! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Show Us Your Stuff in January. :)

This month I really enjoyed the challenge at Show Us Your Stuff! I've been enjoying a ton of scrapbooking lately, and feel like I'm getting my scrappy mojo back! ;) Here is the sketch:

Super inspiring!! And here is the page I created using the sketch:

This is a picture of my dad, who graduated from Lamar in December. (I also made a page for my Mom for a previous challenge, but missed the deadline. Oops!) I love this picture soooo much, and I'm really reallly happy about the way it turned out. I did alot of distressing and ink stamping on this page, plus some glitter detail I'm a little bit in love with. Here lately I can't seem to make a page without glitter on it!! I hope you like what I came up with! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Promise at Bird is the Word!

Bird is the Word's January first challenge word is "Promise". This is the sketch:
Such a great sketch!!! I modified it a little bit for my layout, but it was truly inspiring. :) So, without further ado, here is my page:
I have been saving this ocean-themed paper for a looong time for some of our Galveston pictures, and when I saw the sketch and the word at Bird is the Word, it just clicked! :) I cut the some of the waves just enough to slip the picture of me posing on a little wooden boat that was sitting outside of a resturant we ate at on our vacation into them as if the boat was really in the water, which I must admit made me feel like a scrapbooking genius. ;) Instead of using more photos in the top left-hand corner, I put my journaling there and made it yellow to mimic the yellow of sunlight. I cut the clouds from another sheet of paper and glued them at different levels of height for some 3D texture, and then went crazy with the glitter paint! I glittered the waves, the clouds, and the journaling tag layers. My title is "I promise... that I will always make time to be silly.", and the journaling says "As we grow older, it's easy to get wrapped up in the seriousness of life. But I think a little silliness is good for the soul!". I hope you enjoyed looking at this page as much as I enjoyed making it. Thanks for stopping by! :)

Lime in January at White With 1! :)

This month the challenge at White With 1 is White + Lime + Buttons. :) I was pretty excited because I've been waiting for the perfect challenge for the picture of my cousin Dan's college graduation, and this was it! His favorite color is lime green, so I thought, why not?! :D Here's the page I came up with:
I'm pretty thrilled with the outcome!!! The title says "Dan, Dan the graduation man!" because throughout his life we've always called him "Dan, Dan the ...whatever... man!" :) I used a plain white sheet cardstock, and then painted some bubble wrap with green paint and laid it on the paper!!!! I'm so excited! I don't have any scrapbooking mists or paints (they're on my wish-list, though), so I've been looking for ways to recreate texture without them. I think this worked out pretty well. :) I've been saving the program, and so I cut out the TVCC seal that was on the front, & the commencement title, & then cut his name out from where it appeared in the program and glued it over his picture with some lime rhinestones on the sides. I wish I could put up some close ups, but something's up with my uploader here on blogger. : / Anyways, I have four buttons on the page to fulfill the button requirement, which I threaded through with lime sewing floss and glued down to emphasize the corners of the page. :) So, I hope you liked it! Thanks for stopping by.

"Wonder" at Bird is the Word!

The challenge word for the December 15th challenge at Bird is the Word is "wonder". This is the sketch:

Because I took a bunch of pictures over the Christmas break, I've been looking for the perfect scrap inspiration, and boy did I find it in this challenge!!! This is the first page I've made in a while, so I really really enjoyed making it. So, here is the page I made:
I absolutely love this picture of me and my best friends. I chose it as the photo that matched "wonder" the most to me because as long as I live, I don't think I'll ever understand the way friendship works. It's magical the way people can go through so much together; can fight, cry, yell, laugh, be heartbroken, be blissful, and still enjoy being together. My friends are awesome, and I hope that this page shows how special my friends are to me. :) The journaling tag says: "Me, Elizabeth, Kelsey, and Jaci have an amazing friendship. We've been there for each other through times of joy and sadness. We've dried each other's tears and listened to each other's dreams. I love you guys. ♥" I hope you like my page! Thanks again, Bird is the Word for the inspiration! :)
