"...and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than sould can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)"

Day Four with Frosted Designs!

For the fourth day of Christmas at Frosted Designs, I created this layout which incorporates four different patterned papers!

The first paper is the main background piece which is the patterned dark blue and lime green piece. The second is the blue tissue paper which forms the first layer underneath the pictures and the background for the title at the bottom. The third papers are two pieces of blue and green printed origami paper which form the second layer underneath the pictures. The fourth papers are the three green strips which I used for journaling and to denote the year that these pictures were taken. I will be posting close-ups soon, but just haven't been able to get them done yet! Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

First Day with Frosted Designs!

After a ridiculously long scrapbooking sabbatical due to my busy college schedule, I've been so happy to find some time to get up in my craft room this Christmas break! I'm excited to take part in the Frosted Designs 12 Days of Christmas, although I won't be able to join in on all twelve. For the first day, complying with the one bird requirement, here is the layout I created!

And here are some close-ups of the page!

And that's my page for the first day of the Frosted Design 12 Days of Christmas challenge! Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

"Change" at Bird is the Word

This past year has got me to thinking about change probably more than any other year in my life. I graduated high school, began college, ended a serious relationship and taken enough college hours so that I am now a junior. This prompt made me think about all of these changes and, then, the things that have not changed. So, on that note, hre is my page:

I decided to make my page about the facet that no matter what changes we have faced, ou friendship has not changed. I'm sorry about the weird shadow, I could not get it to go away... Anyways, I hope you like this page as much as I do! Thanks for stopping by! :)

June at Stuck?!

I have so much scrapbooking to do this month, and I'm super excited about it! :D My Dad and I recently took a trip to Austin, Mom just had a birthday, and I got to spend some time with my friends from high school for the first time since our graduation a year ago. Needless to say, I've been a busy little scrapper! I love the June sketch at Stuck?!:
And although I adapted it a little bit, I really loved the spacing of this sketch. I did not use a big heart behind the focus photos, instead cutting lots of little hearts to place around the page. So here is my page! I can't seem to make this picture smaller, so I apologize for the size and off center appearance! The title, which appears a little illegible because of the flash on the glitter, reads "Family Love", and the journaling says "While in Austin, Dad and I met up with Aunt Linda at one of her favorite places, Magnolia Cafe. It was so nice to talk and catch up." Of course I have a lot of glittering on this page, some hand cut hearts, a little fussy cutting, and (my favorite) two heart shaped buttons I discovered in my scrap stash. I hope you like my page! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Mother's Day at Once Upon A ...Sketch

This month the challenge at OUAS is about Mom. This is a very special month for me, because my Mom and I are very close, in fact, we're best friends. I wanted to adapt this challenge into a gift that I could give her for Mother's Day. We hold handmade gifts in high esteem in my household, so I decided this would be perfect. The sketch is as follows:
Current Challenge
I made a few adaptations to the sketch. The main one is that instead of layering paper behind the focus photo, I created a book of photos and attached it to the page so that the pages could be flipped. So, without further ado, here is my page:

So, as you can see, I adapted the title to fill all the empty space on the left, and modified the banner a bit at the top. All the journaling is on the inside of the flip book, which I am trying to upload pictures of currently but am having internet difficulty. The book is held together with ribbon covered loops, and tiny little wooden closepins. The flowers on the bottom are Prima (loooove!), and I cut the letters on my Cricut, then added glitter and pearls. I will try to add the pics of the inside of the book soon!  I hope you love this page as much as I do! Thanks for stopping by!

April at Once Upon A Sketch! :)

And I'm ever so happily back to posting!! :D Yay! I have missed my online scrappy community oh so much these last few busy months! So April at Once Upon A Sketch is all about home. The journaling criteria is to be combined with this beautiful sketch:
With this criteria and inspiration, I created this page:

As you can see, I switched things up a bit... I moved my title up, and in place of the journaling tag pictured, I placed a small picture of my bedroom to offset the picture of my house. The journaling is where the title is pictured, and it says "I believe that home is more than just a building. Home is a place you go to feel loved and supported. My home and the people in it have made me who I am." :) This page is one of my favorites to date, because I incorporated a lot of things that I have tried on different layouts all put together. There is some glittering, some fussy cutting, a handmade paper flower, and a combination of buttons and gemstones. Also, happy side note, the background for the pictures came from a roll of wrapping paper I have had in the attic for years! :D Yay for using fortuitous items! I hope you like it, thanks so much for stopping by! :D

Once Upon A Sketch in February!

The second challenge of the month at OUAS was totally perfect!! I had one more picture from our trip to Galveston that I needed to scrapbook, but simply couldn't find the inspiration to do it. But this sketch combined with the journaling prompt about your favorite vacation certainly gave me the kick-start I needed:

As always, I love the sketch! Here is my page:

The journaling says "My favorite family vacation is the one I shared with Mom and Dad in Galvestion. We had an amazing time soaking up the sun." I really loved the way the colors came together in these papers with the picture I took the last day of our trip. I also have to say, I'm pretty excited about the flower in the right hand corner, as I used a new technique I had never tried to make it. I really enjoyed making this page, and love the way it turned out. Thanks for stopping by! :)
